In short: your voice recordings, family stories and the stories you write never leave your phone. The Baby Monitor's sound doesn't go onto the internet either; it only travels on your home Wi-Fi. The app doesn't ask you to create an account. Because the app shows ads, Google processes some data, such as your advertising ID.
This policy explains how the Sesimden mobile app, developed by Yusuf Ali Göksel, handles personal data.
1. What data we collect
As the developer, we don't collect any personal data from you. The app doesn't ask you to create an account, and it doesn't ask for your email, phone number or location. We don't have a server that stores your data.
The only exception is video stories: the videos are downloaded from sesimden.com. Like any website, this server keeps an access log: the IP address the request came from, the date and the name of the file downloaded. This log isn't matched to your identity and isn't used to build a profile. The app sends nothing except the address of the video.
Everything the app creates is stored only on your device:
- Your voice recordings: the stories you read and the lullabies you sing are kept in the app's folder on your device. They are never uploaded to any server, never backed up and never shared with anyone. They are deleted when you delete the app.
- Information attached to a recording: the recording's name, which story it belongs to, who read it (for example "Mom") and the second you turned each page. You decide what to write as the reader's name.
- Stories you write yourself: the story's name, the text of its pages and the pictures you choose from your gallery (details in §9).
- Your preferences: the sound, timer and volume you choose, the reminders you set and the notification sound.
When Mimo repeats your child's voice, that also happens entirely on the device: the recording is transformed on the phone and never sent anywhere.
When you use "Save to device" to take out a recording, a family story or the PDF book of your own story, your phone's own share sheet opens. The file only goes where you choose there (for example Files or a messaging app). The app doesn't see that choice and never sends the file anywhere on its own.
2. Microphone access
The microphone is used in three places, and you start all three:
- While recording: only when you tap the record button, and only while the recording lasts.
- In Family Stories: while recording an audio or video story, and only while the recording lasts. For a video story, the camera is on during that time too.
- While the Baby Monitor is on: the phone next to the baby keeps the microphone on for as long as you run the Baby Monitor. It keeps listening with the screen locked, because the monitor needs this to work. During that time a card stays in the notification area, so you can always see that listening is on. When you turn off the Baby Monitor, the microphone turns off too.
Apart from these, the app never turns on the microphone. If you don't allow it, you can still read stories and play lullabies and sleep sounds, but you can't record or use the Baby Monitor. The camera only turns on while recording a video family story and while scanning the Baby Monitor's pairing code.
3. Ads
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. To show ads and measure how they perform, Google may process the following:
- Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA)
- Device information (model, operating system version, language)
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (city or country level)
- Ad interactions in the app (views, taps)
This data goes directly to Google, not to us: Google’s data practices.
Ads are not personalised. Users in the European Union and the United Kingdom see a consent screen the first time they open the app.
You can reset your advertising ID in your device settings at any time: on Android under Settings → Google → Ads, and on iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
4. Usage measurement
There are no analytics tools in the app. Which screens you open, what you tap and how long you stay are never sent anywhere.
Only the website at sesimden.com uses measurement tools to count visitors. Browsing data from the website has nothing to do with the app; no data goes from the app to the website.
5. Rewarded video
To unlock a locked story, sound or feature (the Baby Monitor, Family Stories or Write Your Own Story) for 24 hours, you can choose to watch a video ad. The video only starts when you ask for it, after an adult confirms; it never opens on its own. Data about the video you watch falls under the same ad data described in §3. Which content you unlocked is kept only on your device.
6. Subscription and payments
Sesimden Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play. We don't see your payment details. Card numbers, billing addresses and similar data are handled directly by Apple or Google and are never passed to us.
The app asks the store directly whether your subscription is active, and keeps the answer only on your device. We don't ask through a server of our own, because we don't have one.
7. Baby Monitor
The Baby Monitor connects two phones over the same Wi-Fi network: one stays with the baby and sends the sound, the other stays with you and listens.
- The sound never goes onto the internet. It isn't sent to our server or anyone else's; it travels directly between the two phones, encrypted. It isn't saved anywhere on the way: the sound the Baby Monitor listens to is not recorded and is not stored on the phone.
- So the two phones can find each other, the phone's name (for example "Emma's iPhone") is announced only on the local network you're connected to. This announcement never leaves the network.
- For pairing, the phone next to the baby creates a six-digit security code. The code is shown on the screen and carried inside the QR code; it is never announced on the network. The parent's phone either scans the QR code or types in the code. Someone who doesn't know the code can't connect, even on the same Wi-Fi: the connection carries no sound until the code is checked. A new code is created every time the Baby Monitor opens.
- When the baby cries, the alert is decided by a sound-level measurement made inside the phone that sends the sound. The sound is never sent anywhere for analysis.
- When you play a recording or a family story on the baby's phone from the parent's phone, that file travels the same way (local network, encrypted) to the baby's phone and is written to the app's temporary folder. Short messages, night-light commands and the baby phone's battery level travel the same way too; none of them go onto the internet.
- The night summary and crying history are kept only on the parent's phone.
You don't need an internet connection to use the Baby Monitor; the two phones only need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
8. Family Stories
Family members can record stories for your child in their own voice or on video. All of these recordings stay on your phone.
- Audio and video files are stored in the app's own folder. They are never sent to any server, never backed up and never seen by us.
- If you choose a cover picture, only the single photo you choose is copied to the app's folder. The app doesn't access your whole gallery and doesn't read any other photos.
- When you make subtitles for a story, this is done with the phone's own speech recognition, on the device. The recording is never sent to any server. This depends on what your phone supports; on phones that don't support it, subtitles can't be made, and the app tells you so.
- When you delete a story, the audio or video file, the cover picture, the frame taken from the video and the subtitle text are all deleted together. No files are left behind.
9. Your own stories
You can write and illustrate your own story, then read it aloud and record it like any other story. Everything you write stays on your phone.
- The story's name, the text of its pages and the pictures you choose are stored in the app's own folder. They are never sent to any server, never backed up and never seen by us.
- When you add a picture, only the photo you choose is copied to the app's folder. The app doesn't access your whole gallery and doesn't read any other photos.
- When you download a story as a book, the PDF is made on the phone and only goes where you choose on the share sheet.
- When you delete a story, its text, its pictures and the voice recordings of it are all deleted together.
10. Children
Sesimden is designed for parents who want to read stories to their child and help them fall asleep. The adult installs the app, reads the story and starts the recording. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
The purchase and video screens are behind a grown-ups-only check, so a child can't go through them alone. While your child listens to a recording, the app collects no data at all.
11. Deleting your data
You can delete your voice recordings, family stories and your own stories one by one inside the app. To delete all data, simply remove the app; nothing is left on your device. Since we hold no data of yours, there's no need to send us a deletion request.
12. Your rights (KVKK / GDPR)
Because we process no personal data of yours, we have no records to point you to for access, correction or deletion requests. For ad data, you can contact Google. If you have any questions, though: destek@sesimden.com
13. Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above is updated. If there's an important change, we'll let you know inside the app.
